What is National Night Out?
On August 2, 2011, our neighborhood will be holding a block party to celebrate and participate in the 27th Annual National Night Out. National Night Out (NNO) is a single night every year when communities across the nation organize block parties, cookouts, visits with police, flashlight walks, and other events to help create and promote safer neighborhoods.
Why Join Us at National Night Out?
NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation. Last year, over 34 million people participated in NNO. In our neighborhood, we expect approximately 400 people to attend our NNO party this year.
National Night Out is Designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anti crime programs;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and to
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
